Overview
The
focus of this post-secondary program is to help you prepare for
a career in designing, installing, servicing, or retrofitting HVACR
equipment.
The course is also pre-requisite to the Environmental
Systems Engineering Technologist Energy Management program.
The program covers a wide range of practical and theoretical information
aimed to provide you with the knowledge you need to design and install
a residential or commercial heating or air conditioning system.
Learn:
how to deal with liquids and gases in a system |
principals and practices needed |

to create comfortable living conditions and |

to preserve

how to select the correct compressor, refrigerant, and piping |
Heat loss/gain psychometrics and humidity control |
| and more. |
Learn to use your critical thinking and problem-solving abilities,
either independently or as part of a team, and to use both initiative
and resourcefulness to achieve your objectives.
Learning is based on a combination of lectures and labs and a paid
co-op work-term, helps students understand the realities of process
work and the importance of shop floor expertise.
Graduates also receive a Gas Technician Certificate in addition
to the Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Engineering Technician
